Inspire, create and grow this summer

With so many exciting TV shows to catch, a barrage of excellent content on the Web and hundreds of top-notch industry events to visit it can be hard to keep track. That’s why we’ve put together a guide of our top inspirations to take note of this summer; so you can ensure you’re motivated to make the most of your creativity when crafting new dishes, drinks and bakes.

What’s on the box?

2019 has already given us some brilliant foodie shows including Saturday Kitchen, which we recently had the honour of featuring in. If you watched the episode, you would have seen us show the lovely Shivi Ramoutar around our glasshouses talking all things edible flowers!

Another favourite of ours is The Great British Menu, (who we are proud to supply product directly to) with this years’ inspiration being ‘the celebration of British pop music’. We love how the talented Chefs tell stories through their food, including award-winning Luke Selby’s 10/10 ‘Rockstar’ lobster dish with a Bronze Fennel and Tagete Flower garnish.

All budding bakers will also be pleased to know that The Great British Bake Off will be back on Channel 4 in August 2019. Celebrating the talents of non-professional (but none-the-less phenomenal) bakers, we’re counting down the days!

In the Netflix-sphere, season 6 of Chef’s Table has recently been released – a delightful documentary series which goes behind the scenes into the lives of the world’s best Chefs. We’ve already binge-watched it all!

What’s on the web?
The internet has opened up a number of possibilities for cooking hobbyists, chefs-in-training and culinary creatives with many transforming cooking into an art form. Popular YouTube food channels in 2019 include Binging with Babish – a clever young chap who recreates popular dishes from film and television shows.

Instagram, too, is home to many smart cookies including the Meringue Girls who use the platform to showcase their delightful desserts. They have since established their own baking brand which has boomed in popularity over the past few years. Inspired by stunning colour and nature, the girls have been known to use edible flowers to compliment everything from cakes to croissants. Universal Cookery and Food Festival – 25 June 2019, Northamptonshire

UCFF provides chefs with a unique opportunity to get out of the kitchen and rub shoulders with local farmers, foragers, growers and suppliers; in addition to networking with some of the industry‘s top insiders. Make sure you come say hi!

The Big Feastival – 23-25 August 2019, Oxfordshire

Feastival brings together rocking tunes and delicious foods in what’s proven to be a beautiful harmony. Last year, the visiting chefs included Marco Pierre White, Raymond Blanc and Andi Oliver; whilst the likes of Basement Jaxx, Craig David and Paloma Faith took to the music stage. Food Rocks – 7-8 September 2019, Lyme Regis

Mark Hix’s Food Rocks returns! Showcasing top-quality food and drink from a diverse range of producers and suppliers from Dorset and the South West, this festival is set to be a superb celebration of local produce. Check it out here.
